We are already in March, a quarter way through 2018. How are you doing with those lifestyle changes you promised yourself when you made those New Year’s Resolutions?

My brother in law, who is in his mid 50s, suffered a heart attack late last year. As you can imagine, we were all very devastated by the news.
I am Sad to say that this was due in part to his lifestyle. The good news is that he has used this as a wake-up call to make significant changes in his lifestyle.
There is a lot of information on the best foods for your heart so I am only lending my voice to this topic and hope that our faithful followers will find the below useful and helpful.
I appreciate that there are some who, no matter what they do, may be prone to heart diseases and failures, but that should not stop us from making healthy choices and lifestyle changes.
My father made that choice some 50 years ago, when he announced to the family that he will no longer eat meat and opted to be a vegetarian!! This was a big deal because from our part of the world, Ghana in West Africa to be precise, our men get the choicest meat in all their meals. So, for my father to make this lifestyle change to become a vegetarian, before it even became known in our culture, that was a big deal.
My father exercises regularly and I am happy to say that a week ago, he celebrated his 90th Birthday.

If you have just started on the health food journey, I suggest you try a variety of healthy foods instead of focusing on just a few. Plan your meals in advance, have a weekly menu so that you are better prepared. Be open-minded to new things you have not tried before and experiment. Healthy eating is NOT boring. Try new fresh herbs and spices, you will be pleasantly surprised.

DRIED FRUITS AND BERRIES – Mangoes, Cranberries, Blueberries, Pineapples, Banana, Goji. Why not make your own trail mix from our ingredients or you can buy one of our own.
GRANOLA – Our home-made granola is fully loaded. Try it, you will love it!

Like I said above, vary your diet. Drink lots of water during the day, cut down on salts and sugar. Eat lots of greens, a variety of vegetables, fruits and keep your body moving. Your beautiful body needs the full package.
